What is Reseller Direct?
Reseller Direct is CD Baby's wholesaler and reseller, physical product, self-service distribution program. We provide you with a digital version of our wholesale catalog and an order-form template. We host an FTP website where you can access your account, download the catalog, and submit orders.
Am I eligible? How do I get started as a reseller with CD Baby?
If you maintain a business where you sell physical products, you are eligible to become a reseller with CD Baby. You can get started by creating an account here.
Note: if you maintain a business within the U.S. we will need a copy (or scan) of your reseller certificate (or state equivalent) for sales tax exemption eligibility for our records.
Can I order downloads through the reseller program to sell in my store?
No, Reseller Direct only provides physical products to wholesalers and resellers.
Is there a minimum order?
No, there are no minimums through Reseller Direct. You could order one product if you need.
How do I place an order?
Once your account has been set up properly by CD Baby you can fill out the order form template, based on your needs and our current available inventory, and submit it. Current stock levels and wholesale prices are shown inside the downloadable wholesale catalog also available once your Reseller Direct account has been set up. Our “Catalog” file is updated daily; all other available files are updated multiple times a day. All shipping is to your primary address.
I’m just looking for a discount for one particular item. Can I just get the wholesale discount for that one item?
Wholesale discounts are set directly by the artist. If you are an eligible reseller, then you can receive a discount on that item.
How much is shipping?
Currently, there are no shipping fees through Reseller Direct. This is subject to change in the future.
For international resellers we do not pay customs fees, taxes, or duties. Those remain the responsibility of the recipient (wholesaler or reseller).
How do you ship?
For domestic Resellers, we ship via UPS Ground. For international Resellers, we ship via DHL. We do not offer shipping through FedEx.
Can CD Baby ship my orders to multiple addresses?
We are only able to ship to ONE primary address through Reseller Direct. If you require orders sent to different addresses, you may consider opening separate Reseller Direct accounts for each primary address.
I have an Amazon Seller account that has been gated. Can CD Baby help me get my Amazon seller account ungated?
Unfortunately not. Our Reseller Direct program does not provide documents that satisfy Amazon’s requirements to verify 3rd Party Seller Accounts. Through this wholesale program, customers are provided with sales invoices in .CSV format. We will not provide custom invoices in order to satisfy Amazon’s requirements.
I’m having trouble submitting my orders, can I just email CD Baby with the items I wish to purchase?
No. All orders must be submitted directly through your account using the order template file that we provide. We can however help you understand how to format this order template in order to meet our system’s requirements.
Why were some items canceled off my order?
In almost all cases this is due to lack of inventory. If you order an item that is out of stock, our system will automatically cancel that item, but we will attempt to fulfill as much of your request as possible. For example: if you order 3 copies of an item but we only have one, we will fulfill the one copy we do have available. We do not offer backorders through Reseller Direct.
What is your return policy?
Because of CD Baby's payment terms with the Artists, all Goods are sold on a non-returnable basis with the following exceptions:
- Defective Goods (damaged, unplayable, etc.) are returnable within 90 days of purchase date, including Goods shipped to Distributor without a scannable barcode.
- Up to 1% of total cost value of Goods purchased in last 90 days may be returned directly by Distributor to CD Baby, provided such Goods are unopened and in undamaged condition.
